A gerund is a noun made from a verb by adding "-ing." You can use a gerund [or gerund+object] as the subject
動名詞即在動詞之後加ing後成為名詞, 動名詞可以拿來當主詞

在工作室裡會和孩子一直強調, 除非特別動詞, 二個動詞不可以在同一個句子, 發生二個以上動詞就要動手腳了, 動名詞會讓孩子覺得是動詞, 要讓他們知道加上ing 就是動過手腳後, 可以合理化的概念了. 加上ing 後, 這個詞性就變成了主詞囉! 其實用中文解釋孩子是很容易懂的, 像中文的"跑步" 可以用在動作, 也可以當成一個運動(即是名詞)
